COMPOSITION:
Tobramycin (as sulphate) IP
EQ.to tobramycin. 0.3%w/v
Fluorometholone. IP0.1%w/v
Benzalkonium chloride. IP ,0.02%w/v
As preservative
Sterile aqueous vehicle. q.s
DOSAGE AND method of administration:
shake well before use
one drop instilled into the conjuctival sac(s) every four to six hours.During the initial 24to48 hours the dosage may b increased to one to two hours.Frequecy should be decreased gradually as warranted by improvement in clinical signs.Care should be taken not to discontinue therapy prematurely.No more than 20ml should be prescribed initially and prescription should not be refilled further avaluation as outlined in PRECAUTIONS
INDICATIONS: FLOM T is indicated for steroid responsive inflammatory ocular condition for which corticosteroid is indicated and where superficial bacterial ocular inspection exists
Ocular steroids are indicated in inflammatory conditions of palpebral and bulber conjuctiva,cornea and anterior segment of the globe where the inherent risk of steroid use in certain infective conjunctivitis is accepted obtain a diminution inedema and inflammation.they are also indicated in chronic anterior uveitis and corneal injury from chemical radiation or thermal burns or penetration of foreign bodies.
The use of combination drugwith an anti infective component indicated where the risk of superficial ocular inspection is high or where there is an expectation that potentially dangerous numbers of bacteria will be present in the eye.The anti infective drug in this product.tobramycin is active against the following common bacterial eye pathogens, staphylococci, including s.aureus and s.epidermidis (cogulase positive and cogulase negat), including penicillin resistance strains
Pharmacology
Flom T is a combination of two drugs.Tobramycin aminoglycoside derivative is a broad spectrum antibiotic responsive against variety of pethogens.there is almost no resistance still so far and steroid Fluorometholone is effective against inflammation .in clinical studies it is shown that Fluorometholone has less side effects as compared to other steroid so it can be used for a longer time.but if used for more than ten days IOP should be checked in a regular interval of time.If used for longer time can cause serious side effects like posterior subcapsular cataract formation , glaucoma etc.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:
* NOT FOR INJECTION INTO EYE.
* discontinue the use if allergic or hypersensitivity reaction occurs.
* steroid may excerbate the viral infection.
* Prolonged use of steroid may cause corneal thining and perforations of cornea
* Steroid may mask infection or inhance existing infection.
